Well, decided to give polymer clay a try again. Got sidetracked with other things but recently started reading the blog and watching all the videos again. I was just going to start to make the color recipes and like so many here, Cindy’s color mixing video will now make that task easier. I am so glad to read Cindy’s remarks regarding her reason for starting The Polymer Clay Tutor and that was to help beginners. I can see that this is the best place to be-))) ~Catherine-R >> This comment was originally posted here: Mixing Custom Color Recipes

Hi Cindy, I purchased your beginner course about 3 months ago (which is about when I started working with polymer clay) so I can honestly say you have been with me from the beginning! What a godsend your tutorials have been! Your instructions are clear and concise and so very easy to follow. As you know, when I was done with the beginner class, I had to know more! I became a member and I have purchased almost all of your back issues. I have made flower canes that I could not believe I would ever be able to do. I have made Kaleidoscope canes and showed them to my sons and they look in wonder and say “how DO you do that?” I just smile and say Cindy showed me how. I have a friend that started using PC several months before me. I am proud to say that I have surpassed her current skill level and I owe it all to you! (Okay, just a teeny bit competitive there, but she started it, LOL). I tried your Blend and Switch tut yesterday and can’t wait to finish them. I just received my UV light and resin, so that is today’s project! Also, even though I’ve “graduated” from the beginner’s course, I still refer back to these videos when I can’t remember exactly what you said. I am also so very impressed with how quickly you respond to everyone’s questions (including mine) and if you aren’t immediately available, someone on the blog will be more than happy to jump in and help. Keep up the great work! I can’t wait to see what this week’s tutorial will be!! Very sincerely. ~Laura-Z >> This comment was originally posted here: Polymer Clay Tutorials

I am new to polymer clay work. This Aurora technique is awesome!!! It alone was worth the money I paid for the videos. I can’t wait to view the others.
Your monthly fee is so small compared to what you pay for craft magazines these days and you probably only end up liking a few crafts from the magazine in the end. For what you two have done with this website, the price is quite reasonable. The color cards are fantastic and the community here is very inviting and everyone is willing to share information. I was sort of a beginner when I started out here, and I have learned a great deal… able to try some new tutorials and finally feel good about my creations. I look forward each day to see what is new on your blog. Thanks for all your work that you two put into making this an A+ polymer clay site in my book! ~Lupe-M >> This comment was originally posted here: Leopard Cane Video

Hi all, I’m a bit of a newbie … so I just purchased some back issues … if there are any other newbies out there – seriously consider doing this – just when I think I know when the video is going Cindy does something completely different than I thought she would and it’s sooo much easier and it’s like – well duh. ~Desiree-J >> This comment was originally posted here: Blue Morpho Butterfly Wing Cane

Great tutorial Cindy. Being fairly new to polymer clay I knew nothing about bezels or incorporating the clay with them. I’m learning so many really useful and interesting things with these excellent tutorials. ~Fran-Y >> This comment was originally posted here: Tips For Filling Metal Bezels

I am new to polymer clay, and want to learn all I can. So now I will be able to do so with the help of your videos. They are so informative and the close-ups are super. I want to buy more of your videos for my collection. But the problem is, I want them all. LOL. I guess I will have to be patient and purchase what I can, when I can. Thanks for having it so back videos are available. ~Esther-O >> This comment was originally posted here: Polymer Clay Video Library

Just wanted to take a minute to tell you how much I love your website. You’ve done such an outstanding job with it… so informative, so well organized, and such GREAT videos. I am fairly new to polymer clay and have fallen in love with it. Mainly writing to commend you on your site / business and to say thank you for the wealth of information!! ~Jon-W >> This comment was originally posted here: Polymer Clay Library

Hi, I just signed up for the membership and I am so very excited. I am very new to working with the clay, but I am very artistic and creative and am very excited to get started. I Love this rocker bead…. very cool. Thanks so much for the effort that you put forth for all of us! ~Kim-G >> This comment was originally posted here: Rocker Beads – Polymer Clay Tutor Exclusive

Hello to all, I want to thank all of the people in this group. You are all very helpful to new members and so encouraging. I really love this site. Purchased an oven to make beads so next step is to purchase some clay. Thanks a million to all. ~Sue-C >> This comment was originally posted here: Copper Bracelet Tutorial

Hanne, these are amazing! And to think that you’ve been claying for less than a year! I definitely identify with your statement that polymer clay is a passion and an addiction. Since I started claying last November I have no time for painting, which I have loved for about 20 years. ~Linda-K >> This comment was originally posted here: Puffy Beads

I’m a beader, but a beginner with polymer clay. I especially want to make the pebble / stone beads in Vol 012, which I’ve purchased in the last few minutes. Thank you. I love your website already. I googled: “How to make polymer clay river stones” and you came up. Lucky me! ~Marsha-C >> This comment was originally posted here: Faux Pebble Beads

Cindy, I really feel what you have posted today and the bottom line being that the majority rules. We do get another interesting cane but that could have come a little later. So I am disappointed, probably because I haven’t arrived at the “experienced level” yet and a laynard is a challenge for me. But I will enjoy learning any tut you work so hard to produce for us. You and Doug are the best and there has to be a shower of blessings directly overhead for all your family with what you all give us. A “Thank You” seems so lacking but know it comes from the heart. Love and hugs to all the family. It’s still happy claying. ~Joyce-M >> This comment was originally posted here: Beaded Lanyards

I am Romanian and moved to Netherlands 5 years ago to study. I discovered polymer clay this year in March and since became addicted. I am married, have a full time job in a technical domain actually, and I use clay as a creative outlet, it helps to fight the daily stress. I am lucky because my husband is very supportive with clay work, his hobby is photography and the pictures I sent you and on the website are made by him. I discovered you and your wonderful lessons early this summer and this event definitely gave a boost to my creative efforts. Only recently, I had the courage to make my clay work public and I am very grateful for the support you offer. The Polymer Clay Tutor is such a warm community and so nice to be in. I was not very active in this community, I admit, but I do read all the blog and all the comments :). I tried everything: watercolor beads, flowers, book beads (these are very lovely) but my all time favorites are the raku beads. You are such an inspiration! … I am only a beginner and am very anxious to hear what the members of this community will say about my work. I mean this community has seen a lot of polymer clay work. So far I created jewelry only for myself and give them away as gifts. Lately, my friends were telling me that I should try to sell them but I am not sure. I would try that I am afraid that I am biased because they were made mostly for myself. So I would appreciate any suggestions to improve my work. With regards from Eindhoven, Netherlands. ~Ileana-B >> This comment was originally posted here: Selling Your Polymer Clay Jewelry

Cindy: Thank you for teaching me through this blog, for all your encouragement, and for including my work in this spotlight. I highly recommend your videos and articles to anyone getting started or wanting to improve with polymer clay bead making! You’re the best!!! ~Marsha-N >> This comment was originally posted here: Polymer Clay Jewelry

I am new at making polymer clay beads for jewelry, this article has allowed me to get over the jitters about wasting clay in my efforts. It is really about giving yourself permission to make mistakes and learn something new. The art is in the serendipity of the process. ~Lisa-R >> This comment was originally posted here: Dragonfly Pendant Jewelry

How right you are about you having encountered the problems and worked out the bugs for us. I can’t wait to try making canes. Yes, right now it looks hard to me, but when it finally works, it goes from just being a lump of clay to a work of art. Yes, I too have seen stuff on E-bay and have wondered at some of the probable frustrations these artists have probably had to endure. Can’t wait to try my hand at it though. With your hints, helps and techniques, like my best friend often reminds me, I don’t have to reinvent the wheel, since you have already invented it! Thanks. ~Karen-O >> This comment was originally posted here: Beginner Polymer Clay Canes

Hi Cindy, I am fairly new to polymer clay. And I was making mistakes and didn’t know it. But when I found your courses , I was delighted to see how much fun it was to work with polymer clay when you handle it properly. And your videos revealed my mistakes and the right way to do things, So I am delighted to be a part of your teaching and I will keep adding more courses as I progress. I am pleased to say I have already sold 2 necklaces I learned how to make on the videos. I have been making jewelry for a little over 2 years , but making your own beads is so cool. So thanks for making mistakes and sharing so I don’t have to. Sincerely. ~Marilyn-S >> This comment was originally posted here: Polymer Clay Color Recipes

I’m thrilled to have found your course! I had played with polymer clay for a short time a few years ago but set it aside. Your course has helped to ignite a passion, and I’m very grateful for the work you put into it, along with your blog and your library. You see, I had a stroke in 2001. I’m okay physically, but the depression can really get in the way. One day in February was unusually warm, and I decided to go out and run a few errands (which is sometimes difficult when depression rears its head). I stopped by our local Barnes and Noble to have a cup of coffee at the café, and of course I had to find a magazine to read while enjoying the coffee. PolymerCAFE jumped out at me. Reading it caused me to feel something I hadn’t experienced in a long time – enjoyment! When I got home, I googled polymer clay, and found your course. Cindy, I’m hooked! I’m a rank amateur, but the passion is there. This feeling – being passionate about something – is one I haven’t experienced in many years, and your work has played a big part. I simply cannot thank you enough. Serendipity is always such a wonderful surprise, and that’s what happened – the warm weather, the magazine, your course. I never expected any of them, but together they have set me on a course that I’m thoroughly enjoying. What I love about your course (and your library videos) is your wonderful down-to-earth, chatting-with-a-friend attitude. Your depth of knowledge comes through, but it’s in a quiet way that I appreciate. It leaves me feeling encouraged, not intimidated (as many experts often make me feel). Thank you so much for being there! ~Linda-D >> This comment was originally posted here: Polymer Clay Beads

Love this article on mixing colors. I am brand new in polymer clay (not just mixing but polymer clay in general). I have been totally confused and not sure at all about what I am doing with it. Just reading this color mixing, to me, has been like finding a treasure chest! How creative and artistic you must be, to be able to figure out these color combinations. I only hope I will have the gift of combining and knowing how to figure out the ‘right recipe’ for this fun stuff! Thanks. ~Karen-O >> This comment was originally posted here: Polymer Clay Color Mixing

I am such a newbie!! Even though I have taken a couple of classes locally, the instructor went so fast trying to cram as much into the time as possible… I was overwhelmed and truthfully don’t remember all that much. ~Marsha-N >> This comment was originally posted here: Beading Classes

Rest assured – Cindy and Doug are both extremely creative and very dedicated to this site. They strive for the highest quality and do so with complete integrity. Many members here will completely support this. I’ve purchased several month’s worth of back issue videos over the last year and can access every one of them as well as the current weekly videos 24/7. I’m new to clay and learned an awful lot through those. ~DJ >> This comment was originally posted here: How to Make Polymer Clay Beads

Hi Cindy & greetings from South Australia. Thank you, thank you, thank you. As a newbie clayer & ‘fly by the seat of my pants’ kind of gal, I found the precision measuring of the traditional skinner blend more than a little off putting – although the results are beautiful. I had most trouble with cutting the angles of the triangles. Your new method is VERY exciting, & I have just altered my plans for my day off today, to include some experimentation of your technique. So once again, thanks for your generous sharing of knowledge & want to say how much inspiration I get from your wonderful site. Cheers. ~Sharispice >> This comment was originally posted here: Tear Drop Skinner Blend

Have just made my first “real” necklace and bracelets and LOVE this ,,, it is captivating, and at this point, a tad obsessive! ~Heather-K >> This comment was originally posted here: Polymer Clay Lessons

Hi Cindy! Taking your course definitely showed me how much I don’t know about polymer clay. Being a complete newbie, I found every video extremely helpful. Before I had no idea about different brands, how to make even size beads, how to not get fingerprints, I didn’t even know beads needed to be sanded and finished. Until I get further into my bead making, I can’t think of a thing to add….. Except I am anxiously waiting for your cane making video series! ~Joyce-R >> This comment was originally posted here: Polymer Clay Color Recipes

Your site is the best! I am a newbie and have learned so much from your tutorials. I said a loud “yes” when I saw that you would be doing the Gerbera Daisy which was on the top of my list for learning. Thanks again for all the time and hard work that goes into keeping us all so happy! I, too, can’t wait until Fridays now. ~Catherine-R >> This comment was originally posted here: Polymer Clay Flower Cane Tutorials

OK – I am a NEWBIE for sure to polymer clay beading. I’ve been beading for a couple of years. My friends call me a technique junkie – but I love learning new things. I’m just trying to figure it all out – your tutorials are truly the best and so clear and easy to understand. ~Linda-Kn >> This comment was originally posted here: Making Jewelry Beads

Hi Cindy. I’m new to polymer clay, but your style of teaching has made me almost an instant expert. You should have a show on HGTV. You are great! ~Jill-V >> This comment was originally posted here: Polymer Clay Bead Making

Hi Cindy, I sculpt representational figures with polymer clay; Santa and historical characters are my favorites, work in progress going on now with Wyatt Earp on my blog and also have a website. I’ve recently become fascinated with bead making! When this happens, I have to explore everything I can find on the subject like a hungry wolf going after dinner! Your videos -re food for my soul; cant’ get enough of them. Thanks for being here for people like me… crazed beginner bead makers! ~Lynda-D >> This comment was originally posted here: Making Polymer Clay Beads

I am sort of new to the polymer clay group. I was reading for sometime then finally joined and have been enjoying the videos, I am still in the early stages but I usually do start slow. I do like the wire work although I am still trying to get the loops the same size, I am left handed so I have to try and turn things around so they work out for me, But what fun it is. I also want to thank you for the videos I love the one with the crayons I am going to try that one for sure. Thank you. ~Barb-C >> This comment was originally posted here: Beads and Jewelry Blog

I agree with everyone Loretta great job. We all owe so much to Cindy. She knows how to bring out the best in all of us and you sure showed us your best Loretta. I think we all agree that Cindy’s talent for teaching is remarkable. To have that kind of a talent in art is a blessing, then to be able to showcase it in a way that can teach even the beginners is absolutely awesome. Once again Cindy THANK YOU FOR BEING YOU, and special THANKS for knowing how to reach us all. I am very proud and grateful to be one of your students. If they had a teacher of the year for polymer clay you would be that teacher. I would be honored to nominate you as Polymer Clay Teacher of the year and years to come!! Hugs to all my clay family. ~Peggy-B >> This comment was originally posted here: Polymer Clay Jewelry

Hi Cindy, This is great. I subscribed to your videos on Saturday. I am somewhat new to Polymer Clay and I have been hesitant about starting out, because I was nervous. I have every tool and every piece of equipment that I could possibly need, just not the nerve to jump in. But, now is the time. I love your video’s and the ones I watched yesterday are wonderful. Thank you again. I look forward to getting all of these videos. ~Nancy-R >> This comment was originally posted here: Polymer Clay Library Videos

Hi Cindy, I’m a new member, as of a few days ago. I am so impressed with your website, your videos, and your teaching expertise. I’m a fairly new clayer, but have been making jewelry for about 20 years. I was planning to join after the holidays, but when I saw that you had a video on making cord endings, I joined on the spot. You see, I had already made a pendant and strung it on a satin ribbon. I made the adjustable closing out of knots in the ribbon, but when I pulled them to shorten the necklace to the length I wanted, the “tabs” stuck out on both sides of my neck. Your cord endings are SO perfect and so easy! I am now very proud of my first completed piece of polymer clay jewelry. ~Linda-Kr >> This comment was originally posted here: Polymer Clay Jewelry Findings

I only recently found you Cindy, and after joining have had a go at every tutorial you have done. I never imagined that (from never trying any craft at all until i retired) I have been able to make a pendant for all my friends and family. They are all so different but so fabulous, I can hardly wait for Fridays to come round and try a different project. It’s versatility is why its so addictive. Thank you so much for your brilliant Videos. They make everything seem achievable. ~Carole-H >> This comment was originally posted here: Polymer Clay

Hellooooo Cindy! I’ve been meaning to write to you to let you know how much I’ve enjoy your videos. I’m a beginner with clay, and am having so much fun!!!
Hi Cindy. I really enjoy your videos and the way you explain things. You have inspired me to try different things. I am new to polymer clay so really appreciate that there is some online teaching available as there is very little in New Zealand. I have attached a couple of pictures of things I have made from polymer clay as I feel more confident thanks to you. I started making miniatures just for fun and enjoy that too. I think it is amazing that you answer emails to you as you must be so busy. Thanks again. ~Jo-S >> This comment was originally posted here: Polymer Clay Bead Making

I LOVE recipes….because I can’t really make up colours in my head yet. I am very new to polymer clay!! And frankly don’t want to waste my money on making ugly colours!! So it is nice to have that work done for me… gives me more time to play. ~Kam-K >> This comment was originally posted here: Polymer Clay Color Mixing Recipes

Hi Cindy, I have just watched your video clip, a fabulous result and how easy you make it look. I’m very new to working with Polymer Clay … Thanks so much for passing on your knowledge to this novice, I look forward to receiving your email as I know I will always learn another tip to assist me in my creativity.
Hi Cindy: As you know I recently bought your Beginner’s course and I find it is just great. All those hints and tips make a great difference for someone like me just learning how to work with polymer clay (don’t find these in books). Some of us are more visual and need to really see how to do it rather than read on how it needs to be done. I find it just amazing that I can get a video course and see it as many times as I want and stop it, go back, etc. I started making jewelry as a hobby about 5 years ago and think that being able to create our own beads, pendants, etc. in the colors of our choice is amazing. The other thing I like about it is that creating something really opens up your mind and imagination as to what we are capable of. Keep up your great work and please let me know when your next course will be available as I will certainly buy it. Thank you so much. ~Gail-F >> This comment was originally posted here: Polymer Clay Tutorials on Video

I have often looked at the “natural palette” of the Rocky Mountains where I live – azure sky, forest greens and deep clay reds – and thought that the combination was inspiring…but I didn’t let it inspire ME to actually reflect these hues in a piece of art. I am very new to polymer clay, but mixing colors and learning to select meaningful palettes for my bead projects are first and second on my list. I hope to keep an open mind to unexpected color combinations, but also to look to nature for some “tried and true” ideas. Thanks! ~Sue-P >> This comment was originally posted here: Polymer Clay Colors

Hi Cindy… I’m so glad you made the video about Dremel tools. I got a brand new one for Christmas and was just waiting for a good reason to use it! I love all your videos and your articles. I’m waiting till payday to subscribe and I will let you know how I like the rest of the course.
Hi Cindy, my name is Josh, and I’m probably one of the most unlikely persons that you’d guess might be contacting you… I’m a 29-year-old male, an entertainment journalist by trade, and a big video game and rock music fan. ;) I started doing some Googling on the subject of FIMO and Sculpey modeling after seeing some really nice-looking mini sculptures and key chains, and I’m at the beginning stage of considering it as a hobby. Right now I’m just doing research to find out what kind of clay to buy that would suit my needs best (for making simple, mini-models or key chains of various video game/pop culture nostalgia). I just wanted to let you know that I really like some of your work that I’ve seen on your site, and I’ve gotten some good info from some of your blogs, like your suggestion that beginners use Sculpey’s Premo instead of III. I’m sure this info will help me make the right choice when I finally make that first order… and undoubtedly mess up the entire stock on my first attempt. ;) Anyway, thanks for the site! Cheers. ~Josh-B >> This comment was originally posted here: Claymation

Well, not only am I learning about polymer clay baking, but how to possibly fix my cookies as well! Never thought about why that happens. I love to cook, have actually catered from time to time, so I am learning not only about about clay, but cooking as well. I knew there was a reason I found this website. Would love to know how you figured this out. What a guru! ~Karen-O >> This comment was originally posted here: Baking Flat Polymer Clay

That is the hardest part for me just starting out in PC is what clay to get. I made my first dragon with Premo and I didn’t like it. Even after cooling it his little head kept drooping. It was hard to handle and floppy. I tried both Femo and Sculpy III for dragon 2 and 3. I read that Sculpy III was the best for beginners. I still haven’t decided which clay I like best. The Premo dragon turned out OK but he was a baby and didn’t have much detail. I would have hated to work on the other dragons with the clay being so floppy. ~Marianne-H >> This comment was originally posted here: Premo Polymer Clay

Your letter of “Thanksgiving” was very loving, and so touching… To me, it’s always so gracious to be able to pray a prayer of Thanksgiving, for all of our Blessings — my life (after this past September) is what I am Thankful for this year. My summer with my Grandchildren, one of whom is Autistic; the other with Attention Deficit, and my Sweetheart stuck in the middle. She is my budding artist, and we have so much in common (including working in clay). So, I do understand where you are coming from. It sounds like you have a nice life, and I’m very happy for you. I pray that this new year of celebration will grace you with another year of the best. In any event, you are a very nice lady, and kama speaks volumes. …Thank you again for the new things that you placed on hand. I just loved looking at the gold/silver/copper leaf information, and plan on doing something with it… Just finished weaving a gorgeous Lauriat and Earrings. Was thinking to myself, wouldn’t this look great with one of my own created clay beads attached to it (once I learn)! (I’m dreaming, but it will come to fruition!! Actually, the pendant on it can be utilized two-fold — as a brooch as well. I AM SO BLESSED, AND YOU ARE TOO!!
I am VERY NEW to clay and am excited to have found your website. I have never blended but have had a great desire to try. I read books on the Skinner blend, but have not mustered up the courage to try it. After watching your “tear drop method”, I think I would prefer trying this way first — no need to de-program from the measuring and multiple folding of the original Skinner blend! Wonderful video! ~Jos-L >> This comment was originally posted here: Quickest Skinner Blend

Without the food processor my time for clay would be very limited as Arthritis visits often and without the pasta machine there would be no level pieces of clay to cut from so being very new to polymer clay these items are really necessary. I think I’ll really enjoy my next purchase which will be the Makins Professional Clay Extruder and that may become a favorite. Love this new hobby and your lessons and videos Cindy. ~Joyce-M >> This comment was originally posted here: Polymer Clay Tools

Thank you for your kind words and encouragement. I sure hope it does encourage other “newbies” because they will have so much fun exploring the clay world. I was thrilled that you thought my charms were good enough to feature on your blog. Stay tuned because I plan to get better and better. As I see above, I’m not the only one jumping for joy and waiting for time to pass faster. The smooth raku technique seems wonderful, but the deep crackle raku technique must be heaven!!! Dear Cindy, are you sure you can show everything to us in just one video? I could watch four videos about that without complaining! By the way, I’m the brand new member Cindy had the kindness to quote. And I couldn’t resist to subscribe starting with the volume 013, because those little Anjou pears from last week looked so perfect that convinced me it was really the time to subscribe. The four videos I’ve watched until now are simply so good. You are teaching a beginner how to make something new and also teaching an intermediate how to make something right. And you are giving everyone who’s watching one of your videos the desire to try that project. I’m a little delirious right now, you’d be too if you were a member at the library knowing the deep crackle faux raku secrets are coming your way in a couple of weeks! Cindy, thank you so much for sharing this innovation with us! ~Squash >> This comment was originally posted here: Faux Raku Polymer Clay Techniques

Dear Cindy, I would like to thank you for the 4 free videos. I am a beginner in this beautiful art and i find them very useful. You made them simple, clear, easy to understand- in one word -just wonderful! When searching the net i came across your page and i fell in love with the trumpet bead and the roses. Your creations are lovely! I am from Bulgaria. The art of polymer clay is not popular here. That is why it was a bit difficult to find and get materials and some tools, not speaking of books or guides-practically there are none :) I have in mind your wonderful offers. Thank you once again. Wish you love. ~Nevena-E >> This comment was originally posted here: Polymer Clay Videos

Cindy, So glad to see you are taking the holidays off to spend with your family. Have a wonderful time, stress free. Thank you for all you do for us and please say a huge THANK YOU to your family also. A very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours as well as to all who join in this wonderful blog. What did I do before I stopped by here?? It has made my 2009 beginning year very special and I’m so looking forward to what you will teach us in 2010 with the comments of our clay family. Love to all of you. ~Joyce-M >> This comment was originally posted here: Polymer Clay Tutorials

I get up especially early on Fridays just to see what video you have sent and I sit down with my coffee and watch. As you know, I am new to polymer clay, but I have watched your videos as much as I can and I am a fast learner, but I was wondering where I can find the patten for making flower canes such as the one you used in the video today. I have already tried a mod cane and a checkered cane, but the flower cane looks so daunting to me. Thanks so much. ~Charlene >> This comment was originally posted here: Making Polymer Clay Flower Beads

Cindy, Thank you for this post. I consider myself a Newbie, because I have only worked in polymer clay for a month or so. But I have been crafting, drawing, painting for all of my adult life… (30 yrs or so, you do the math ;-) I find that I am bringing all sorts of skills to my new found interest, a knowledge of color, design, other techniques that have worked in other media. But I don’t know the ins and outs of working with polymer clay. This is why I find your site so helpful. I don’t have a lot of patience learning through mistakes and it really helps to “see” through videos how to do something. And, although I feel I have a lot of knowledge in other areas, I feel intimidated by asking simple questions of experts. So I guess this is a long way of saying how I feel you hit the nail on the head! ~Sue >> This comment was originally posted here: Polymer Clay Jewelry Heart

Oh, I’m so glad that I found you! Your work is so beautiful and the video’s are so well done even a beginner like me can follow. I can’t wait to see what you will have coming next. You don’t have to reply I know you must be very busy. I hope I’m not bothering you with this reply but I couldn’t resist telling you. Thanks Again. ~Mary >> This comment was originally posted here: Polymer Clay Teardrop Blend

I cannot say enough about Cindy and her site! As for the cost, I have saved the cost many times over just by saving on time and materials using her steps and tips and suggestions. The site is a huge treasury of information both for the beginner and the experienced polyclay artist. In addition, Cindy is the most wonderful person when it comes to customer service and answering questions. I am a beginner and I have had some pretty simple questions but she always takes the time to answer and usually she has been right on. ~Suanough >> This comment was received via email.

OK, in addition to being a guru, color genius, you must also be a mind-reader. I have just made my first beads with polymer clay and have already wondered, a couple of times, if I really needed to sand them. Since I am lying in bed, right now, doing the treasure hunt and my wonderful, yet exhausted husband is asleep and has to get up and work tomorrow, I am going to have to wait until the a.m. to sand, but trust me, it will be number one on my to do list, right after my coffee! Thanks. ~Karen >> This comment was originally posted here: Sanding Polymer Clay Beads

Beautiful colors! I’m glad you can envision colors. Nature is a great source for inspiration and living in Arizona I enjoy the earth tones of the desert, the wonderful colors from our cactus and wildflowers, the color influence from Mexico and of course the sunsets. Trying to duplicate them is a tough one for me. Have you ever considered doing a southwest color palette? Wouldn’t it be fun to do a series on colors from around the world, tulips from Holland, the waters of Aruba, colors from the rain forest! Wow one could stay a wake all night just dreaming up colors. As a very new clayer I find your website very informative, you’re a very gifted person. ~Jeanne >> This comment was originally posted here: Polymer Clay Color Recipes

I love Cindy Leitz’s web site www.beadsandbeading.com – I signed up and all the videos are very helpful. I hadn’t made polymer clay beads before and it helped a lot with that. I like her color recipes too. ~Betsy >> This comment was received via email.

Hi Cindy, I’m fairly new to your newsletter and tutorials, but I have to say I love the new look. It is so much cleaner and easy to focus on the main thing. Great job. I’ve enjoyed all the tutorials so far and I am very new to the polymer clay crowd so all your tips have been very helpful. Thanks for taking the time and energy to put this together for us novices. Have a sparkling weekend. ~Shana >> This comment was originally posted here: Image Transfer To Polymer Clay

So glad to have found you all. Claying isn’t as big in Britain as it is in the States, don’t quite understand why but then neither is patchwork and quilting (another of my passions). I’ve spent months researching polymer since I stumbled upon it and I visited your site loads of times before I took the plunge and subscribed. I’m really glad I did you’re the best! ~Polyanya >> This comment was originally posted here: International Polymer Clay Artists

I WISH I had read all your blog articles AND bought the course (which I did a few days ago with birthday money) before I bought a bunch of Sculpey III a couple of weeks ago while it was on sale. Oh well, at least I have some clay to play with while I’m learning. I now know first hand that it’s too soft to use for canes. Never having played with polymer clay, I would have thought I was doing something wrong because it was way too soft and I couldn’t cut the log without squishing the whole thing flat. On to play some more! ~Joyce >> This comment was originally posted here: Polymer Clay Brands

Hi! I’m a member of Cindy’s Site, and love it. I’m fairly new to polymer clay and she has been so helpful and always there to answer any questions. I love her clay recipes. She’s a doll! ~Peg >> This comment was received via email.

Hi Cindy. Thanks again for taking care of us. I guess that you have a lot of people in your Guest List so if each of us answers to each of your mails you’d end up crazy. I like to be grateful but after thinking about it I realized it would be worse for you if I reply to each message. I just wanted to let you know that I don’t mean to be ungrateful if I do not answer to your mails; be sure I’ll be waiting for them anxiously. I’ve never done anything with polymer clay, so I’m an absolutely newbie in this technique. In fact my favorite handcraft is cross stitch and the only one I’ve practiced up to now. I’ve created a blog to show my stuff (from 2008 on, not previous things). I haven’t done much this year but I still wanted to show it. You can have a look if you’re interested and you have time. It is and will be mainly cross stitch but I plan to post all my handcrafts there. Hugs from Spain. ~Mis Labores >> This comment was originally posted here: Polymer Clay Tutorials

This was a wonderful video. You really make it easy for a new clay artist like myself.
Wow you are wonderful, I am new to clay and can not get that skinner blend to work for me. Have ended up with more mud than blend!
To All My Fellow Newbie Poly-Clayers: Being the winner of Cindy Lietz’ 2008 Treasure Hunt, and having access to Cindy’s first set of videos in what I hope will be many sets, I just want to agree with those who have now purchased the videos, and to testify to those who have not yet received Cindy’s videos: Cindy is the best teacher, and her videos are the best videos!!! :) :) :) I have already learned so much from these videos that I so fortunately won this past week. Cindy teaches the “between-the-lines” information that you don’t get when reading an instruction book. Cindy makes sure that every detail of the subject matter she is focusing is addressed, and made to understand. Not only that, but her videos are a really good quality, which makes watching them an effortless and seamless experience. The lighting in her videos is always right-on, and the angles at which she tapes what she is so eloquently teaching is very thoughtful and conducive to the viewer’s learning experience. I can not say enough for Cindy’s videos, and I know that I will continue to learn from Cindy as she puts out more video sets. See for yourselves!!! You can’t go wrong if you purchase these videos!!! Give yourself a great gift, and get them :) Sincerely, a very happy Cindy Lietz fan and follower. PS…NO…Cindy Lietz did not know I was going to write any of this :) ~Cindy >> This comment was originally posted here: Beaded Polymer Clay Jewelry

I am a paying member of Polymer Clay Tutor and it is great! I am a newbie on polymer clay and have learned so much from Cindy. Anything you need to know she knows and I am constantly learning new things every time I go to her site. Give it a try and you will not be disappointed. ~Lori >> This comment was received via email.

I am new at polymer clay bead making. The other day I sat and looked at all the different color of clays I have (which is the primary colors) and thought now what! So I took the yellow clay and kneaded it in my hand as I listened to a video on making marbled beads. It sounded easy so I tried it. The first ones I burnt in the toaster oven! Thank heaven I did it outside on the patio! I didn’t give up I started again. Made the same marbled beads again and some solid color yellow ones. The only thing I have made so far is some funny shaped beads. Hey, but they were MARBLED! But the other day I picked those beads to make a little bracelet and low and behold I sold the bracelet. So even my little lumpy first time beads were a hit! ~Brenda >> This comment was originally posted here: Mixing Polymer Clay Colors

I have tried several canes and they have not worked well, but what the heck. Adventure is the name of the game, and try, try again is what we as clay artist should do. It’s like a runner going for 26 miles and hitting a brick wall at 24 miles. We need to push through it and when we do the feeling can be so high. So I say to all of you who want to quit. Reach for the the Moon and if you fall short, you are still among the stars. Cindy I so want to meet you, and thank you for helping all of us start our journey. ~Sandra >> This comment was originally posted here: Making Polymer Clay Canes

You’re quite welcome for the comment. Too many times people find great resources like your site on the web, and take it for granted that it will always be there. Or assume its easy because there are so many. But they don’t bother to say thank you to the person who spends their time to make it possible. And I know that a site like yours takes quite a bit of your time, especially answering all the comments you receive. Not even mentioning all the videos and tutorials you offer. (Do you ever get to just play with your clay?) So let me say Thank you, and ask, where were you when I started playing with clay? LOL. I sure could have used all this info then. ~Jaime >> This comment was originally posted here: Polyclay Bead Beginners

I highly recommend The Polymer Clay Tutor. Watching Cindy’s videos are like having her right in your studio. She makes me fill not so “alone” in a big polymer clay world. I especially appreciate the fact that, as an expert, Cindy does not make me feel like a silly newbie as some experts can. She understands the trials and tribulations that occur with a learning curve and it is her focus to help us learn from her mistakes. It’s because of Cindy’s videos that I had the courage to actually take the next step, rather than just reading books over and over. In addition to the great videos, Cindy provides other invaluable resources in her daily blogs and color recipes. And if you have questions, comments, or feedback, she is prompt in her responses. This gal works very hard and is dedicated. You can’t go wrong with The Polymer Clay tutor. Oh…and she has a really cute accent! ~Stacey >> This comment was received via email.

Using ceramic tiles to help avoid problems with baking flat pieces of polymer clay is something I have not yet encountered (told you I was new to this!!). And know I can fix it before it happens!!
A few months ago I took a beginner polymer clay bead making class with a local artist and we quickly made a leaf cane similar to this one. It was just an overview and my cane was terrible. I’m looking forward to learning more about it and actually learning how to do it! ~Marsha >> This comment was originally posted here: Clay Cane Leaf Beads

I love your description of the sunflower against the blue sky. As a Kansas born girl, well, old lady now!, I know that sunflowers are the lifeblood for people – especially women. Where ever I have gone, moving across the Good ol’ United States, I have planted sunflowers and provided black oil sunflowers for the birds. The color palette for the petals is brilliant and so creative. Your experience in mixing the clay colors is desperately needed by me – an old lady beginner! Now i want to figure out a design incorporating the black oil sunflowers . . . so the birds have something to eat as well. Thanks for the best website on polymer clay i have ever found. At last – I am learning something. And the treasure hunt is just plain fun, although winning would be even better! ~Pamela >> This comment was originally posted here: Polymer Clay Color Mixing Recipes

I have just found out about beading clay and find it interesting and I enjoy the videos and color recipes that you send out. They are informative and I am learning from them. Looking forward to working with it more throughout the winter months. Thanks. ~Delphina >> This comment was originally posted here: Bead Beginners

I think for a beginner (like me) Cindy’s videos are tremendously helpful and informative. I subscribe and look forward each week to seeing what I get to learn from her. You could probably search and find similar info from other places, but it’s nice to have this come directly to my inbox and I don’t have to do any work. But I’m lazy like that. ;) She sort of starts with a basic technique and then builds on that with subsequent episodes which is nice as well. (and probably a good way to keep her subscribers wanting more!) :) The color recipes with the printable cards are nice to have as well! ~Camille >> This comment was received via email.

Though I am literally brand new at the P.C. bead making, I have already gotten a ‘different eye’ in my surroundings for looking at color. I was actually in my bathroom the other day, for my morning sit down and noticed my shower curtain. It is in rich browns, golds and tans. I’m thinking what great colors and textures it would be use to as a polymer clay tube bead. Also, I got a catalog from a well known flower company and just looking through it, at the color spectrum available in nature, I see ‘treasure’ now in even my junk mail! Thanks for helping me to be inspired with the idea of color in nature, mail and yes, even my bathroom curtain. ~Karen >> This comment was originally posted here: Polymer Clay Cane Designs

That was great. I’m new to polymer clay and need all the help I can get. I will be trying that. Thanks. ~Cheryl >> This comment was originally posted here: Baking Polymer Clay

What a great blog! So useful! I’ve always wondered about polymer clay, and this looks like a great place to start (not that I really NEED another craft interest, but that’s beside the point, lol!) Thanks for visiting my Mama’s Magic blog and commenting. ~Jen >> This comment was originally posted here: Making Polymer Clay Beads

As a new polymer addict, it’s interesting to learn how custom colors are mixed. I’m learning that colors are mixed just as they are in a traditional painter’s palette, which is coming as quite a surprise. Still don’t understand the translucent clay, but I’m sure that I eventually will. ~TK >> This comment was originally posted here: Polymer Clay Color Recipes

Thank You!!!! Thank You !!!! Thank You!!! I will visit your site often. I am a beginner and have been trying to learn, what a help you have been. I hope to some day meet you and Thank you in person. Where I work they are down sizing and it is just a matter of time, before it will be my time to go. I will be 58 tomorrow and I have loved art all of my life and there is not anything I have not tried. I have wanted to combine my love of drawing and photography into one medium and I have found it, Polymer Clay, I am glad you are out there for beginners like me. So again I say THANK YOU, Warm Regards. ~Sandy >> This comment was received via email.

Dear Cindy, Because I am fairly new to Polymer Clay, I guess I don’t have anything to compare the “newer” clays to. I do know that I find myself getting quite frustrated when my clay gets too soft and mushy and it won’t do what I want it to do. When this happens, I hear your voice in the back of my head telling me to let it rest for a few minutes. This always helps (yes, after seeing your videos that you send weekly, I do hear your voice talking to me while I am claying ;). As always, thank you so much for all of your time, effort, and creative love that you put out on your blog for all of us creative sponges out here! You are the Best ! :) Sincerely. ~Cindy >> This comment was originally posted here: Beginner Polymer Clay Canes

I have loved the 1st video course! What fabulous lessons you’ve created for me… the beginner. My interest is in learning to make unique buttons for quilted wall hangings and pillows. Do you have any videos featuring button making? I also would enjoy learning more from your wonderful blog pages. How is it possible to view the “full” videos from there? I would love to learn more.
Once again I am just blown away by all that you share here Cindy!!!!! I am learning new things and I am soaking it all in….I am a newbie, I have been playing with clay for a few months now but nothing serious. I already make my own jewelry and thought how fun it would be to design my own items through clay. I am most interested in the canes….and there is so much to learn. If I purchase your video lessons do I just have the 30 days to look at all of them or how does that work? I work and take care of an elderly mother as well as my hubby so I don’t have a lot of time on the PC…so I will wait to see what you post back…..:0) Thankx again Cindy….this is GREAT!!!! ~Pamela >> This comment was originally posted here: Polymer Clay Tutorial | Cane Slices | Round Beads

Thanks! I made my first beads yesterday. You are such an inspiration! I made some with translucent clay and lavender buds embedded, and others with the flower and leaf canes I already had. I’m really looking forward to the new application for my canes. ~Betsy >> This comment was originally posted here: Polymer Clay Focal Beads

Cindy, If I were a person new, looking for guidance, or someone seeking a better approach in technique in the medium, I would be a fool not to become a member. You are outstanding in your approaches and teachings to the extent that even someone experimenting with pc for the first time would not feel lost or intimidated. I wish you the best of luck and hope you have a wonderful weekend! ~Mary >> This comment was received via email.

That’s a great post! I was just asked by a clayer from Jordan (neighbour) about “how to start claying” she asked me because she has to order everything online, nothing she can find in her country, so I have her the list, similar to yours, if you ask me, polymer clay is not that expensive hobby (at first anyway), our list is much shorter then other art mediums I know :) ~Iris >> This comment was originally posted here: How To Make Polymer Clay Beads

Cindy; I have been really enjoying the videos & recipes. They are teaching me a lot about beads and the basics of polymer clay. I am very new to polymer clay and really appreciate all techniques.
I am not a member but Cindy is an absolute sweetheart and her help is wonderful! I highly recommend her site. It is mostly for people who haven’t worked with clay for years as many of us have, but she has gone WAY beyond what she needed to merely to help others. For that, she gets my Gold Star! ~Moe >> This comment was received via email.

I really liked the part about adding translucent clay to give it a more realistic translucency. I can see all the flowers in my mind now, of course being new it will take me a while but I will get there. Thanks. ~Cheryl @ Polymer Clay Cane Designs

Cindy I just purchased your beginners course and I like it very much. There are so many little details that no one else tells you. I have seen the lentil beads you make and they look amazing. I want to start making polymer clay beads and combine them with the tagua nut beads that I sell. I guess these will be the perfect combination. I am just starting with polymer clay and I am really apprehensive as to making canes or any other complicated project. I would also like to know when you will have your next 2 courses available as I would be interesed in buying both. Thank you for your help. Best regards. ~Gail @ Polymer Clay Bead Making

Wow some of these post are really interesting. Some have made me laugh. I am really enjoying this treasure hunt. I like to make small figures and I try to sand the spots that I can but I must tell you it is not one of my favorite thing to do. I am just now getting into making beads. I have noticed a real big difference in the look of beads when I take the time to sand and buff. Buffing is another problem area for me. I haven’t had the problem that Sue had but I am a little afraid of my dremel tool also. ~Linda @ Sanding Polymer Clay Beads

Dear Cindy, I am so fortunate to have found your blog, and I am very grateful that I have been able to enjoy your “Polymer Clay Bead Making for Beginners Course.” I have learned more from your course, and your bonus videos, than I could have ever guessed I would learn. Each of your videos is so jam-packed with information…yet, because you really know how to teach, you make it all so seem so simple and doable. You explain, in detail, how every part of each process works. You have taught me what tools are the best to use, and how to use them. You have taught me the differences between each different kind of polymer clay, and the best way to work with each of them. Each time I finish a video that you have made, I go away knowing, without a doubt, how to do what I have just been taught. I now have great confidence in my abilities when I work with my clay, thanks to all that I have learned from watching your videos. Through your videos, I have learned how to avoid many mistakes (after all, you have already made them for me!), and how to make beautiful beads, jewelry, and anything I want to make! Making beads and other projects with polymer clay used to be so mysterious to me, now, thanks to your beginner course, I understand what I am doing, and I just get to have all kinds of fun!!! I can hardly wait to so what more you have in store for all of us! Sincerely. ~Cindy @ Comment Received Via Email

Your videos are perfect, don’t change a thing. I am new and bad at making beads and your videos are most helpful. ~Barbara @ Beginner Bead Making

I really appreciate the videos and all I am learning. I just had surgery and will begin the practical phase next week. So far I have just watched and read and amassed tools and clay. Once my husband picks up a 12×12 ceramic tile I will be on my way. I have seen someone make a tree face out of the clay and although I begin this craft wanting to make beads, I can see there is a plethera of things you can do with it. I am truly looking forward to getting started. I purposefully did not start so that I could use it as a distraction during my recovery. Your videos have been very very helpful. ~Lani @ Slicing Polymer Clay Canes

Definitely SAND. I have not made any beads yet. Just a newbie and I started with an animal. The pictures of the beads you made are gorgeous, they shine like glass beads, which was all I needed to convince me to sand. ~Marianne @ Sanding Polymer Clay Beads
